چکیده

More than 200 specimens from different occurrences of the Rogaland igneous complex and surrounding granulite facies metamorphic rocks (S. W. Norway) have been analysed by a direct non-destructive proton induced gamma-ray emission (PIGE) technique. The fluorine contents vary from < 25 ppm to 3500 ppm. There is a good correlation between the concentration of fluorine and that of phosphorus for igneous rocks, suggesting a control of apatite on the F content, tn metamorphic rocks, amphibole and biotite besides apatite are the principal cencentrators of fluorine indicating that fluorine in the system is controlled by granulite facies metamorphism conditions,

Proton Induced Gamma Emission Method with the 3 mv van de Graaff Accelerator

Proton induced gamma emission (PlGE) method has been developed at the Accelerator Laboratory of Atomic Energy Centre, Dhaka (AECD) for analyzing low Z elements in the range of 3 to 15. With a view to exploiting the potential of PIGE technique as a tool for practical applications, attempts have been made to find the experimental evidence for its capability and scope. Gamma ray yields from PIGE e...

A proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) analysis of concentration of trace elements in varicose veins

Background: Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) has been applied as reliable and improved techniques in this study to compare concentration of various trace elements in normal and abnormal varicose veins. Materials and Methods: Five samples from normal veins and 13 samples from varicose veins bombarded by 2.0 MeV energy proton beams produced by a Van de Graff accelerator in vacuum. T...

First Quantitative Imaging of Organic Fluorine within Angiogenic Tissues by Particle Induced Gamma-Ray Emission (PIGE) Analysis: First PIGE Organic Fluorine Imaging

PET (Positron Emission Tomography) allows imaging of the in vivo distribution of biochemical compounds labeled with a radioactive tracer, mainly 18F-FDG (2-deoxy-2-[18F] fluoro-D-glucose). 18F only allows a relatively poor spatial resolution (2-3 mm) which does not allow imaging of small tumors or specific small size tissues, e.g. vasculature. Unfortunately, angiogenesis is a key process in var...

A new technique for analyzing trace element uptake by human enamel.

Fluorine (F) and strontium (Sr) are key elements in the de- and remineralization of teeth. To quantitatively analyze the distribution of F and Sr, micro-particle-induced gamma/X-ray emission (PIGE/PIXE) technique was used. The cavities were prepared and filled with the fluoride- and Sr-containing restorative materials (FSCMs) in extracted human molars. The single-section enamel specimens were p...
